I was waiting for the forum to arrive. Will upgrades from the older version to the newer version 2 be possible and seemingless?

Hi again Fidel!
The data format for uhp2 is totally different, so I will need to write a conversion utility.. if there is enough demand then I will do this..
Cheers
John

Joseph: Demand / Money talks.
John: Please, let us know the status on this, as I have a few small sites I just built that are using UHP1 and will remove them if there will be no converter to UHP2.

Due to popular demand, I've now developed a function to allow upgrade from UHP 0.n to UHP2
This will create a home page using UHP's main page content, contact page using the name etc, and gallery pages if there are any images..
Some limitations are that it uses the nickname as the default site name (this can be easily edited) It will also only create 1 gallery page no matter how many images you have..
It is a bit rough, but it works fine.. It will be shipped with the beta version..
Cheers
John

Hi John,
I am using uhp Version 0.5 - 25 Oct 2004 on joomla 1.0.11. The users have little images on their pages, just content in the form of information. I have just downloaded the version uhp2_1.1.2.
I am going to run your compatibility component prior to installing the new version. I see you said you have a conversion utility. Is this utility available in the uhp2_1.1.2. zip file? Or do I have to get it somewhere else.
Are there any issues I should know about before doing this upgrade, I can not afford to have this site go down..
Thanx in advance Rip

Hi,
the upgrade is included as part of the install process for UHP2, it will detect a UHP installation and give you the option to upgrade. It will not change your existing UHP - it makes a copy of any files etc in a different area so you can test before switching over..
Cheers
John

Hello!
I am writing from Slovenia. I am using a component uhp2 (1.1.2) and it is great. I would like to upgrade this component with uhp 1.6.1, but I don`t want to damage the pages that have been made before with an older component.
Can I do that? Will the base stay (old pages) there? Are there going to be any problems?
Thank you for the answers .
