*** Stop press - 1.2 has now been released
*** Please dowmload from: http://www.ravenswoodit.co.uk/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=78&Itemid=13
***

UHP2 1.2 RC1 is now available for download and testing. The component is attached to this post.

*** Please do not run this on a production site - this version will expire on 31 Dec 2006 ***

There are a number of significant "under the hood" changes to UHP2, although it looks pretty much the same from the end users point of view.

The main change is the new templating system using Savant2 which will allow you to change way that the site output looks. Admin and user forms cannot be changed yet.

The other main change is that the css, images and javascripts have been moved to the front end component directory. This has been done because some users protect their administrator directory with a password or some other access control and it was causing issues.

Installation has been improved to add some checks for UHP2 server compatibility and issues will be flagged at installation time where possible.

The Admin options have been improved and now allow the administrator to manage site more easily by approving/unapproving multiple sites, changing directory viewing etc. There is now a maintenance option while will tidy up i.e. delete redundant files, pages and sites. Configuration options have been reorganised to be more intuitive.

The New user process has been made slightly better by now providing a link for the user to go to their new site and start managing it immediately.

A new repository page class has been added to allow a very simple file upload/download facility to be provided.

To implement the new www.mysite.com/username functionality, you need to make the following changes to the Joomla .htaccess

Code:
########## Begin - Joomla! core SEF Section
############# Use this section if using ONLY Joomla! core SEF
## ALL (RewriteCond) lines in this section are only required if you actually
## have directories named 'content' or 'component' on your server
## If you do not have directories with these names, comment them out.
#
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(/component/option,com) [NC,OR] ##optional - see notes##
#RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (/|\.htm|\.php|\.html|/[^.]*)$  [NC]
#RewriteRule ^(content/|component/) index.php
#
########## End - Joomla! core SEF Section

########## Begin - UHP2 Rewrite rules
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/?$ index.php?option=com_uhp2&task=viewpage&username=$1 [L] #[R] #
########## End - UHP2 Rewrite rules

n.b. If you are using a sef package like Opensef, then this will not co-exist..

Cheers

John

No, that isn't the problem - you can exclude UHP2 from the OpenSef list OK..

It is hard to explain but the .htaccess above basically says:

In the URL if there isn't a file or a directory called /username then pass to the uhp2 component to process via normal Joomla processing i.e. via index.php

If opensef is enabled then opensef processes the URL and doesn't pass it on properly to UHP2..

If anybody can come up with a better rule - please post it here!

Cheers

Hi,
Thank you for this wonderful component.

I just upgraded from 1.1.2 to 1.2, and I couldn't make the www.website.com/username to work.

I appended your .htacess code to my existing .htaccess.

Wonder what's wrong....

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

you need to either replace your .htaccess with the supplied htaccess.txt file, or merge the changes above.. Just appending them won't work..

Cheers
